Bob Impola, second at Vasaloppet 2018, has been without a Pro team since Team Serneke was closed down this spring. Now, however, 28-year-old Bob has signed with Ed System Bauer Team.
“It feels so great and inspiring,” says Bob.
When we talked to Bob in the second half of August, he was without a Pro team. He planned to do long distance races in Sweden for his club SK Bore. Now, however, there are happier times for Bob. He has signed for the Czech Pro team, Ed System Bauer Team, run by the Olympic and World Cup medalist Lukáš Bauer.
Bob contacted Bauer when he noticed that the Pro team was looking for athletes.
“We got good contact immediately and have had a dialogue for a few weeks. A few days ago, everything became clear,” says Bob.
Impola will race the entire Visma Ski Classics Pro tour except for La Diagonela. Vasaloppet is, of course, a big and important goal for him but Bob aims to have an even season.
When do you get to meet your new teammates?
“The plan for us is to meet in Livigno one week before season XI starts.
The recent weeks have been full of new things for Bob. Nine weeks ago he became father to a girl named Hedda, and now he has signed with a new Pro Team.
“The first two weeks after we got the baby, I thought: “How will this be?” But now everything feels good and my child gives me so much energy and inspiration. I feel really great now, says Bob.
As Bob joins a new team he will also change equipment.
“I will race on skis from Kästle and poles from Leki. It feels exciting. I’m in the ski tunnel in Torsby at training camp with my club now and will start testing the first round of skis I got, Bob concludes.
