In celebration of Dolomitenlauf 50th anniversary, the event brought this year a new 42km course in classic technique, starting at Heinfels and finishing in the center of the Dolomite town Lienz, Austria.
With the participation of more than 600 skiers in the main event and a strong presence of Pro Tour athletes, the big winners of the Visma Ski Classics Challengers event were Pro Tour athletes Vinjar Skogsholm, Team Parkettpartner Sjusjøen and Melina Schöttes, Team Tri Nordic Coaching.
The action in the men’s event was intense until the final meters of the race, with the decision remaining for the exciting final sprint. With a total time of 1:35:59.2, the Pro Tour athlete Vinjar Skogsholm, Team Parkettpartner Sjusjøen became the winner, followed by Pro Tour athlete Veli-Matti Räsänen, Ski Marathon Team Austria in second place and Pro Tour athlete Stanislav Rezac, Slavia Pojistovna Sport Team in third place.
In the women's event the competition was also exciting. Pro Tour athlete Melina Schöttes, Team Tri Nordic Coaching, completed the 42km race in 1:46:58.0 giving no chance to the rest of the field. Second place went to Pro Tour athlete Terhi Pollari, Skimarathon Team Austria, with Hanna Nöhmeier, Team ZIPPS, completing the podium in third place.
