The Ski Classics Hall of Fame consists of Athletes, Pro Team Directors, and Ski Classics Staff who, through their performances, have contributed to building Ski Classics.
Ski Classics is today proud to announce the induction of two exceptional individuals into the Ski Classics Hall of Fame, Thomas Granlund and Magnus Östh, to recognize their outstanding contributions to the sport and their pivotal roles in shaping the history and legacy of what is Ski Classics forever.
Thomas Granlund: A Pillar of Development and Innovation
The award recognizes Race Director Thomas Granlund for his long-term dedication, development of the sport, and being on-site at the events, bringing winter sport event experiences second to none, as he is well known in the world of long-distance skiing events, having been part of Ski Classics since Season II.
Over the years, Granlund has played a key role in developing Ski Classics. As the first Race Director, he was responsible for creating conformity between the events for Pro Teams, Media, and the Pro Team athletes and developing the rules for what the Tour has today.
Thomas Granlund’s impressive track record includes serving as a Technical Delegate (TD) at World Cups and Tour de Ski and Chief of Competition (COC) for renowned events like Malmstråket and the Swedish Championships. His contributions to the Swedish Ski Association as a member of the rules committee and his involvement in TD education underscore his deep commitment to the sport and, of course, as the first-ever Race Director for Ski Classics.
Magnus Östh: The Visual Storyteller of Ski Classics
Magnus Östh has been a cornerstone of Ski Classics’ storytelling, serving as its long-time photographer and videographer since Season I. Through his lenses, Östh has captured the beauty, drama, and spirit of long-distance skiing, creating iconic visuals that have resonated with fans around the globe.
David Nilsson, Director of Ski Classics, highlighted Thomas Granlund and Magnus Östh’s invaluable contributions:
“Ski Classics Hall of Fame recognizes individuals, Athletes, Pro Team Directors, and Ski Classics Staff that have, in outstanding ways, contributed to the development of the sport. Thomas and Magnus have both been around since Ski Classics’ early days; without them, the Tour would never have become what it is today,” says David Nilsson and adds:
“They both are very well known within the Ski Classics family, and without a doubt, I dare to say that they represent all athletes, events, and Pro Teams. As persons, they both are highly appreciated and adored for their professionalism, friendliness, and humor. After all, sports are built by the people within it, and Thomas and Magnus have been very actively doing so for Ski Classics. I am proud to have been working with them for 15 years, and I hope to continue doing so for 15 more in different ways! Now I, as the representative of the Ski Classics family, induct Thomas Granlund and Magnus Östh to the Ski Classics Hall of Fame!”
