Bruno Debertolis is a familiar face in the Ski Classics circle, and many remember this cheerful and always polite Italian former top skier. Bruno started his career as a skier competing in standard-distance races, aiming for a spot in the Olympics, from which he narrowly missed qualifying. That disappointment was one of the toughest moments of his career, and in the Ski Classics Ski or Die Raw Cut interview, he shares his feelings from that time with tears in his eyes.
However, his career continued, and Bruno became an experienced long-distance skier, ranking among the top athletes on the Ski Classics Pro Tour until he retired from competitive skiing to establish his own Pro Team, Team Robinson Trentino. As a team leader, Bruno is meticulous, professional, and passionate.
In the Ski Classics Ski or Die Raw Cut interview, he admits that leading a team is not easy amidst work, family, and other responsibilities. Yet, he still passionately loves skiing and hopes to see an Italian win the Marcialonga race someday. This goal is one of the ambitions for his team, which is quite international.
“We have to have an international team because I believe Italian skiers need to learn from different nationalities and how they approach different situations. They need to see how different people eat, train, have fun, and live their lives. We have many Scandinavian athletes on our team because, for me, Scandinavia represents the heart of skiing. Italians can also learn something new from them and become even stronger,” Bruno says in the interview.
