The Italian Pro Team, SottoZero Trentino Team Zorzi Max, consists of six Pro athletes for season XI.
The team is a mix of old and new. 21 year old Gabriel Koehl will make his Ski Classics debut season XI
“I am impressed by Gabriel’s strength. I think he can perform well in season XI,” says his teammate Francesco Ferrari.
SottoZero Trentino Team Zorzi Max is preparing for their second season as a Pro Team. They met in August for their first training camp, in the region of Predazzo.
“Gabriel Koehl immediately showed strength. He is only 21 years old but I think he can perform well in season XI,” says Francesco Ferrari.
Last season, Francesco Ferrari himself was unlucky. While racing the Challenger Dolomitenlauf he broke his shoulder and missed one month of training and racing. Then, due to Covid-19, the season finished and Francesco had to stop again. Now he is training hard with his Pro Team, aiming to reach top positions.
“During the summer, I’ve been training hard with my teammates Mauro Brigadoi and Gabriel Koehl. We have been training mostly in Val di Fiemme - Trentino, the land of Marcialonga. As an Italian, I dream of reaching a top position at Marcialonga”, says Francesco.
With this goal in mind, Francesco has discussed with Mirko Filippi, SottoZero Trentino Team Zorzi Max coach and they decided to do more long training sessions during the summer. One training session has been a 150 km roller skiing session from Egna-Ora to Verona.
“It was a tough workout, due to the distance and the hot weather, but we managed to do it. We hope that these long sessions will make us more resilient for hard races to come,” Francesco ends.
