The Swedish Pro Team, Lager 157 Ski Team, consists of eight Pro athletes for season XI.
“We want to develop the athletes and the team all the time. The Team competition is always important and exciting. We like to show how good we are there,” says Pro Team Director Anton Järnberg.
In season X Lager 157 Ski Team finished second in the Team competition behind Team Ragde Eiendom and just ahead of Team Koteng.
The pre-season has not been that much affected by the current world situation for the Swedish Pro Team.
“It is really only the big roller ski competitions Klarälvsloppet and Alliansloppet that have disappeared from the plan, but we have done some races of our own instead. We have been able to prepare as planned. We have had a great pre-season. There are some injuries like every year but there is nothing that stresses us,” says Järnberg.
Anton Karlsson is back after back surgery, which stopped him from competing during season X. Anton, who won the Sprint competition in both seasons VIII and IX.
“With Anton back, we become sharper. It will be like a new acquisition. Even Elin (Mohlin) is much stronger now than last year. If we compare with our team a year ago, we are better now,” says Järnberg.
“I always want us to compete as a team. We need to find roles for everyone when all athletes have high ambitions. We will end up in situations where you have to act for another athlete.”
“It feels like we have athletes for all the bibs now.”
Järnberg has an experienced team that has now also has been supplemented with the inexperienced 20-year-old Karolina Hedenström.
“It’s tough to get into this level at that age. She has to build for the future; there is no stress. She will attend some of the races this year,” Järnberg informs.
The Grand Classics is something that Järnberg thinks will give something extra to season XI.
“You can notice that the athletes get inspired by it. It is good that not all races are equally valuable, that we have these monuments, concludes Lager 157 Ski Teams Pro Team Director.
