The Swiss Pro Team, Team BSV IBEX, has just done a great new recruiting in Ilya Chernousov.
The 34-year-old Chernousov, who will get his swiss passport in a week, aiming for the next Swiss Olympic team, will also compete in Visma Ski Classics. I season XI he plans to attend in the Pro Team Tempo, Engadin La Diagonela, and Marcialonga.
“It feels great to have Ilya in our Pro Team. He will be an inspiration for our younger athletes,” says Markus Walser, Team BSV IBEX Pro Team Manager.
“Ilya told me that he would do world cup races this winter starting in Davos in December. He will get his Swiss passport in a week or so. But he also likes to continue with long distance skiing and Visma Ski Classics on his way to reach the Swiss team for the winter Olympics in Beijing 2022,” Walser informs.
For season XI the plan is that Chernousov will attend the Pro Team Tempo, Engadin La Diagonela, and Marcialonga.
“Then it depends how he performs in the world cup races if he does more races in the Pro Tour in season XI,” says Walser.
Ilya Chernousov has a long skiing career with lots of great achievements in both shorter distance races and long distance skiing.
He won bronze in 30 km skiathlon in the world championships in 2011 and bronze in 50 km in the 2014 Olympics. In Visma Ski Classics he won La Diagonela 2017 and Marcialonga 2018, among other top performances.
Chernousov lives in Switzerland since many years now and is married to the Swiss biathlete Selina Gasparin.
