The Swedish Pro Team, Team Engcon, consists of five Pro athletes for season XI.
Team Engcon is a small team, but they aim to reach the podium in season XI.
Laila Kveli Ahrlin, the winner of Vasaloppet 2013 and 2014 and second in Marcialonga in 2015, is on her way back to the shape and level she had when she reached the podium several times.
“Laila has been able to train a lot better this summer and autumn than the last years. I can see a significant difference in her physical status now, says the Pro Team Director Jerry Ahrlin, who since August 1 is Laila’s husband.
Laila hopes and believes to be back in top shape in the coming winter.
“If I can go through with the training I want to do, the goal is to have my best shape at Marcialonga and Vasaloppet,” says Laila.
Nils Persson surprised many with his seventh place in Vasaloppet in season X. Nils younger brother is Emil Persson, Lager 157 Ski Team, who won both the Livigno Prologue and La Diagonela in season X.
“Nils has potential. He showed it in Vasaloppet. He is an athlete that can be at his best when it really counts,” Jerry states.
The former three times Marcialonga-winner Jerry will also do a couple of races himself in season XI.
Team Engcon has recruited two young athletes; Anton Elvseth, 21 and Wilma Jönsson, 23.
“They are local athletes that we like to support. In season XI it’s about to see and learn for them. Wilma is on her way back from an injury,” Jerry informs.
