Visma Ski Classics will from season 2021/2022 until at least 2025/2026 be broadcasted on SVT, the Swedish public service broadcaster.
SVT has a long history offering winter sports to the Swedish audience and SVT´s weekend "winterstudio" program is vastly popular in the country. Visma Ski Classics being part of it, will connect the pro tour, the events and the Swedish skiers even closer to the countrys winter sports fans.
“It’s a natural step for us to broaden our position on the Swedish market. SVT has with their weekend programs built up winter sports in Sweden the last decades and its audience has a great interest in cross country skiing. The fact that SVT has been the host broadcaster for our Grand Classics event Vasaloppet since the times when TV sport was produced in black in white, means they have a great knowledge and passion for our sport of long distance skiing. With SVT, even more fans will have the possibility to follow the entire Pro Tour and their Swedish athletes, which have been strongly emerging the last couple of seasons.” Says Visma Ski Classics CEO David Nilsson.
"I am really satisfied with this long agreement making sure SVT can continue to deliver top-of-the-line cross country skiing for many years to come. Visma Ski Classics will together with the Biathlon World Cup and World Championships become important corner stones when developing our winter studio show next season. We experience a huge engagement from our audience regarding the winter studio and winter sports on SVT. It is easy to conclude that the Swedish population enjoy to gather around the competitions and the excitement of Swedish athletes performances. I am sure Visma Ski Classics will play a great role for our future winter sports selection. Says Åsa Edlund Jönsson, sports director SVT.
