Today Salomon and Birken signed a cooperation agreement until 2025. Birkebeinerrennet is one of four races within Visma Ski Classics that season XI forms Grand Classics.
“We are thrilled to enter into a collaboration with Birken ski festival; this is something we have wanted for a long time. Our goal with this agreement is to inspire more people to go cross-country skiing, create more visibility and attention and strengthen relationships with our distribution channels,” says Bård Bakke, Global Commercial Manager at Salomon.
Birken has sought an offensive partner who has values, visions, goals and plans that can contribute to Birken Ski Festival being the one that offers challenges and experiences for everyone.
“We have long seen that Salomon is offensive and has gained a strong position in the length market. Salomon has solid plans for further growth in collaboration with Birken ski festival and we look forward to being part of that journey,” says Terje Lund Olsen, sponsor and marketing manager at Birken.
“Together, our main goal is to lower the barrier to go downhill and contribute to as many people as possible wanting to participate in one of the festival’s many ski races,” says Bård Bakke.
Birkebeinerrennet is one of four races within Visma Ski Classics that season XI forms Grand Classics. The Grand Classics events are the four largest and most prestigious events in the Pro Tour: Marcialonga, Jizerska Padesatka, Vasaloppet, and Birkenbeinerrennet.
No one has won all four races in the same year before, completing a Grand Slam. Who will be the first?
Sven-Åke Lundbäck in 1981 and the Italian Christina Paluselli in 2005 and 2006 have been closest, with three victories during the same season.
