The Finnish Pro Team, Team ES Endurance, consists of five Pro athletes for season XI.
Team ES Endurance is a new team entering Visma Ski Classics where all athletes previously have been focusing on other disciplines than classic long-distance skiing such as shorter distance, sprint and biathlon.
“We are all looking forward to new challenges,” says Pro Team Director and Pro Team athlete Eric Storvall.
All athletes in the Pro Team have been doing some long distance races but not in Visma Ski Classics. Eric Storvall himself has been doing several long distance races in free technic but now he has been focusing on double poling during the summer. Annika Sjöström, with a background in biathlon, has done the same.
The Pro team also has two other Finnish athletes: Eevakaisa Loukusa and only 20 years old Nico Andreas Bennert and a Swede, Erik Silfver. Silfver with several world cup starts in sprint for Sweden.
“Erik will focus on sprint also this winter but he will race Vasaloppet and Ylläs-Levi at the end of the season. Maybe it will be some more starts in Ski Classics depending on how things are going with world cup starts,” says Storvall.
For season XI Storvall tells that the ambition is two have athletes who can keep up with the lead pack during the races.
“The team is a long-term project and we want to grow and in the future be able to fight for higher placements,” he says.
“One ambition with the team is also to grow the interest in long distance skiing, especially in Finland. We want to inspire all people of all ages and with different backgrounds,” Storvall ends.
