Russian Marathon Team finished 11th in the Pro Team competition last season, and the skiers are ready to up the ante when the 10th anniversary season kicks off in Livigno, Italy, later this year. They have a new name, Russian Winter, but their roster is quite the same as before, but there is one interesting addition to the team. Maxim Vylegzhanin, a three-time silver Olympic medalist and a five-time FIS World Championship medalist, one gold, will do some of the races during the season. He will most likely start in Livigno and pop up in other races as well.
Last winter, Ermil Vokuev had the best result of this wintery squad with his 7th place at Ylläs-Levi while the Pro Team’s female skiers managed to score some points with their performances; Anastasia Vlasova was 9th at La Diagonela, Viktoria Melina 10th at Marcialonga and Rebecca Immonen 11th at Ylläs-Levi.
