The second event in Visma Ski Classics Season XI took place today. Also being the second one in Visma Alp Trophy cup combining the alp events. The 38 km race Toblach-Cortina in Italy became the 5th Pro Tour victory for Lina Korsgren, Team Ramudden. Now Korsgren will enter the Visma Ski Classics hall of fame as a legend.
Lina Korgren showed right from the start that she wanted a high pace in the race. Korsgren won the sprint in the Nordic Arena after 9 km. Soon after, she got a gap and pushed really hard on the uphill.
“When I got a gap, I just went for it. It was tough to do it by myself for such a long time, but I am glad I managed it”, says Korsgren.
"I’m happy to take my 5th victory, becoming a legend which was one of my goals this season. Now I look forward to Marcialonga, I have been second there and will go for a win next Sunday," Korsgren continues.
When Korsgren reached the climb point her lead was 35 seconds to Emilie Fleten, Team Koteng. Ida Dahl, Team Ramudden and Elin Mohlin, Lager 157 Ski Team, followed 47 seconds behind Korsgren.
Soon after the climb point Dahl and Mohlin got Fleten in their sight and started to chase her. When they reached the Nordic Arena after 23,5 km the three were together, 45 seconds behind Korsgren.
Dahl tried to push away from Fleten but when she didn’t manage to do it, she waited for the finish where she won in the sprint against Fleten and took second place. It was Dahl's first podium place.
“It feels really really good. I tought I was going to be fourth forever,” says Dahl
“I was really tired in the beginning of the race. I had a hard time on the first loop. When we started towards the climb point I felt stronger, saw Mohlin and catched her. Together we then managed to get Fleten, Dahl continues.
Third placed Fleten was a little bit disappointed after the race.
“I had an accident after 10 km. Lina went away and I was stuck behind. My shape is good so I will fight hard for the top podium place at Maricalonga next weekend,” says Fleten.
Lina Korsgren, Team Ramudden, takes the lead i the Champion competition, Climb competition and Visma Alp Trophy.
