The most anticipated time of winter season has arrived in USA with the American Birkebeiner, the North America’s largest long-distance cross-country ski race and the first American event to be part of the Visma Ski Classics Challengers.
Tomorrow, February 22, is time for the American Birkebeiner. The Challengers event is a 50km long-distance race in skating technique starting in Cable at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead and as the skiers near the finish line they make their way over the American Birkebeiner International Bridge and finishing in the heart of Hayward, Wisconsin.
To get a sense of the event size, since its foundation in 1973, over 250.000 skiers finished American Birkie ski events and approximately 40.000 spectators and skiers gathers each February in the area for the Nordic sports festivities and to celebrate the determination and perseverance of Birkebeiner Warriors.
Despite the weather forecast showing negative two digits temperatures for the last couple of days, the prediction for race day is much more pleasant with sun, clear sky, temperatures around -7°C and a gentle breeze.
American Birkebeiner live results will be available in the Visma Ski Classics Livecenter on https://vismaskiclassics.com/livecenter/
