Ski Classics World Championship Season XVIII heads to Sweden for a double-event weekend on the historic route between Oxberg and Mora, with the Oxberg – Mora Sprint Women on Saturday, February 27, 2027, and the Oxberg – Mora Sprint Men the following day, Sunday, February 28.

The women’s event is also known as Tjejvasan. First held in 1988, this 30km all-female race has grown into the world’s biggest ski race exclusively for women. Having been part of the Ski Classics Challengers series since 2019, Tjejvasan now makes its long-awaited step up to the World Championship, a milestone that reflects both the event’s prestige and the growing prominence of women’s long-distance skiing.

The day after, the spotlight turns to a brand-new event for men. Following the same iconic route from Oxberg to Mora, the event adds a second chapter to the weekend on one of the sport’s most legendary courses.

Both events share the same format: a mass start on a short, flat course where both Champion and Sprint Competition points are awarded at the finish line.

“We’re really excited to add two more Ski Classics events to the Vasaloppet Arena. Bringing the classic Tjejvasan into the series while introducing a completely new 30-kilometre race for the elite men gives us a great combination of tradition and innovation. It will be exciting to see some of the world’s best long-distance skiers competing in these races,” says Tommy Höglund, Chief of Competition Vasaloppet Pro race 30 (Oxberg-Mora Sprint Men).

“Tjejvasan has deserved a place in our World Championship for a long time; it’s the biggest women’s-only ski race in the world, and it was about time we gave it that recognition. Now we’re going a step further: putting the men on that exact same route the very next day, competing for the same points under the same conditions. Two days, one iconic stretch between Oxberg and Mora, and a weekend that promises non-stop action from start to finish,” says Lukas Bauer, Ski Classics Race Director.
