We continue with the event presentation of season XI with La Venosta. The 45-kilometer race takes place February 7th. In the following days we will present all season XI Pro Tour events one by one.
Hidden at the end of South Tyrol, close to the borders of Switzerland and Austria, the myste- rious charming Vallelunga valley spreads out in all its beauty. It’s time to stop hiding and show it to the cross-country skiing world. Embedded in the culture region of Venosta Valley, the second edition of this long-distance skiing race will be held season XI.
The course starts directly at the end of the picturesque village Melago. After 6 km a Visma Ski Classics Sprint creates tension in the elite peloton already from the beginning of the race. Then the course goes downhill towards Kappl from where the participants are challenged by a longer slight uphill section to the highest point of the course on 1970 m a.s.l, Melago Alm. Back in Melago they keep circling around the scenic Vallelunga valley before crossing the finish line after 45 km in Melago. Two times, the Melago Alm will be used as a Climb, at 12 km and 31 km.
For participants of La Venosta it is a unique experience in one of Europe’s best film locations, famous for the mysterious tower in the lake and its historical flair. Due to the high altitude, cross-country skiing enthusiasts can enjoy ski tracks in perfect conditions already from early December to late April. A true skiing paradise!
