Ushuaia Loppet is back to the Ski Classics Challengers series after a two-year break. The 42km classic race takes place in Argentina next Sunday, August 14, 2022.
Ushuaia Loppet joined the Ski Classics Challengers in 2019 and, after two years break due to the pandemic, is back on the circuit with a 42km long-distance race held in classic technique in Ushuaia, Argentina.
Ushuaia Loppet is a long-distance skiing race that takes place in the southernmost city of the world. The Ski Classics Challengers event crosses the most important winter centers in the region:
- Cerro Castor alpine area
- Ushuaia Blanca
- Las Cotorras
- Llanos del Castor
- The start/finish area in Tierra Mayor
In addition, there is a short distance race, the Marchablanca, a 21km classic event on the same date and organized by the Club Andino Ushuaia as a popular recreational skiers’ race.
“Ushuaia Loppet and its sister race Marchablanca have more than 40 years of history and celebrate the Fuegian winter sports. A unique event that brings together families, athletes, and cross-country skiing fans. Each edition brings hundreds of participants from Tierra del Fuego and various countries worldwide. Everyone is welcomed to a unique natural environment, taking advantage of the geography where the tracks are located and enjoying a healthy and positive sporting activity for body and mind,” says event director Pablo Valcheff.
