Tomorrow, the Visma Ski Classics podcast Orsa2Levi takes a journey down to Bavaria in Germany and meets with Sabine Freimuth, the director of xc-ski.de A│N Skimarathon Team. This happy mother of two tells the audience about her Pro Team, skiing in Germany, her background and living with her husband Thomas Freimuth, one of the best long distance skiers in the country.
“We have ten Pro Team athletes in our team, but we also have a lot of recreational skiers who join us in the training camps and races. All together we have 60 people in our team. We sign the best skiers for the Pro Team, and they come from various parts of Germany. They have different jobs, but they all share a passion for long distance skiing,” Sabine says enthusiastically on the podcast episode.
Vasaloppet is always the biggest goal for the team, and the Freimuth family lives and breathes the king of the ski races every day.
“Vasaloppet is so important to us, and Thomas is still the fastest German on the original course as last winter’s race took place on an altered course. We have his race bibs and medals hanging on the wall, and he thinks about the race every time he is training. He trains almost every day, and he is in good shape. I think he will never stop training because he loves skiing so much.”
Sabine believes that the upcoming season brings many great new experiences for the team, and they try to be in almost every event, except Tartu Maraton.
“The Pro Tour calendar is very good next winter. I’m a bit sad that Livigno is not part of it anymore because it has always been a great place for us to start the season. But Orsa is also a wonderful place, and I’ll see if I can arrange it with the kids and come over in December. There are so many great locations and events in Visma Ski Classics, and we are delighted to be part of the tour.”
Orsa2Levi can be heard on all podcast platforms and on the Visma Ski Classics website. The podcast is hosted by Teemu Virtanen.
