Wadköpingsloppet in Örebro, Sweden, is a new addition to the Visma Ski Classics Challengers series. This 42-kilometer classics ski race takes place on February 6, 2022.
The event has a long history, but it has developed into a modern classic race in the past years. Due to its early February timeframe, it is also a good preparation for Vasaloppet, for which it is also a seeding race.
The ski arena is located in Ånnaboda, 15 km outside of Örebro, and it is easily accessed from most places in mid-Sweden. The track runs in a scenic undulating forest landscape, but there are also several options to alter the track, if needed, to adapt to weather conditions.
“Wadköpingsloppet wants to become a Visma Ski Classics Challenger race to attract strong athletes, get more publicity and encourage us the create an even better event. We would like to be a part of developing cross-country skiing in our region together with our sponsors, and we think that beeing a Challengers event will help us with this. We're expecting an increased interest in Wadköpingsloppet among the elite as well as the recreational skiers,” says Anders Ericsson, Race Director.
All participants will be able to collect points for the SC ranking which they can check by signing up for free to MyPages. MyPages provides one common ranking for women and men, professionals and recreational skiers alike.
