La Venosta Open, the 33-kilometer Visma Ski Classics Challengers event, took place today in Val Venosta, Italy.
The competition was fierce for both men and women, with the men’s podium positions being decided on the last moments of the race.
Thomas Bing, German national cross-country skiing team, and Kati Roivas, Team Nordic Expérience – Coste & Crédit Agricole Franche-Comté, were the first skiers to cross the finish line.
Thomas Bing won the final sprint in the men’s race, having a tough fight to the last meters, beating Amund Riege, Team Rustad IL Oslo, by only 0.8 seconds. Third place went to Bastien Poirrier, Team Nordic Expérience – Coste & Crédit Agricole Franche-Comté, 1.2 seconds behind.
In the women’s competition, Kati Roivas, Team Nordic Expérience – Coste & Crédit Agricole Franche-Comté, dominated the race, winning with a margin of 3 minutes and 11 seconds over Tereza Hujerová, Slavia Pojistovna Sport Team Z.S. Third place went to Nicole Donzallaz, Team Robinson Trentino.
As La Venosta Open is a Visma Ski Classics Challengers event, Pro Team registered athletes were able to collect points for the Ski Classics Champion and Youth competitions in their respective gender.
