The holiday season is upon us and Christmas is just around the corner. It’s a perfect time to create your own Visma Ski Classics Fantasy team. The prologue events are behind us, and the weekend in Livigno proved to be a great indicator of things to come.
The amazing success of Team BN Bank, the return of Petter Eliassen, the surprise performances from Team Kaffebryggeriet and Team ParkettPartner, the cat and mouse play between Astrid Øyre Slind, Team Koteng, and Britta Johansson Norgren, Lager 157 Ski Team, the “not-so-good” performance of Team Ragde Eiendom and many other incidents that took place in the Italian tax-free town can give you some direction on how to build your most powerful fantasy pro team. Or it may have puzzled your mind a bit, but nevertheless you should roll up your sleeves and step into the fantasy world and become the Fantasy Team Director of the Year, and win euro 500!
And remember that the pro athletes are also allowed to build their own fantasy squads, and they have the best expertise and the latest info about their fellow athletes and what happens in the field. For example, Oskar Kardin, Team Ragde Eiendom, is currently leading the game and Astrid Øyre Slind, Team Koteng, is 4th, but this is certainly a play where you as a fan can beat your idols.
A brief summary of the rules is as follows; you have $40.000 fantasy dollars to use for purchasing your favorite skiers for your pro team, the maximum number of your team members is 10, and you can trade and replace them but only three between each event. You should select your skiers with caution as all competitions count and you can get points from your sprint and climb specialists as well. And the youth points are also added for those skiers who are 26 or under, but you only get 50% of their those points.
Naturally, the value of each skier goes up and down depending on his or her performance level, which may affect your account as well – you may have more or less than your start-up money. The team selection closes at midnight CET, and bear in mind that not every skier participates in every race. You need to check out the start lists in order to select the right athletes.
So, good luck and let the games begin! Have fun while playing, but remember that even the directors go out and keep fit because it is a hard job to run a pro team. And who knows, maybe you are the one who will be awarded at the season ending gala in Levi, Finland on April 13, 2019 – the prizes are worth fighting for!
