This Norwegian Pro Team consists of eight upcoming and promising skiers who want to show their team’s colors this winter. Team Næringsbanken Stora Enso secured the 7th position in the Pro Team ranking during Season XV and aims higher in the upcoming winter season.
Team Næringsbanken Stora Enso is based in the Sjusjøen and Lillehammer area, where conditions are perfect for year-round training.
The Pro Team has been in the top 10 in Ski Classics for the last 6 years, and for the Season XVI counts on local power with eight Norwegian athletes, four women and five men: Marie Renée Sørum Gangsø (1994), Thea Snortheimsmoen (2001), Hanna Sandholt Hansen (2001), Haakon Fossum Holden (1993), Henrik Arntzen Joks (1999), Henning Lie (1990), Ole Eirik Fuglehaug Ekrem (1995), and Sivert Halfdan Bergan (1995).
Of the four female athletes on the team, Marie Renée Sørum Gangsø is the most successful, with her many top-15 results in various Pro Tour races. Her teammate, Thea Snortheimsmoen, is still relatively new to the game, and she finished three Pro Tour events last season. Her best result came from Birkebeinerrennet, where she was the 13th-best female skier at the finish.
Hanna Sandholt Hansen, on the other hand, has a bit more experience in Ski Classics than Snortheimsmoen, but she is still learning the trade trick. She was among the 15 best women in two different races last winter.
The male skiers have performed quite well on the Pro Tour, and Henning Lie managed to be in the top 50 in almost every race. His best race was Birkebeinerrennet, where he was in the top 30 (29th). Haakon Fossum Holden was even more successful as he finished 12th at Vasaloppet and 26th at Engadin La Diagonela and Janteloppet.
Henrik Arntzen Joks got one top-30 position on the Pro Tour last season, while Ole Eirik Fuglehaug Ekrem had his best day at Vasaloppet (50th). Additionally, Sivert Halfdan Bergan can also be a top-50 finisher on a good day.
“Team Næringsbanken Stora Enso is located near Lillehammer and Sjusjøen and has been in the top 10 in Ski Classics for the last 6 years,” says Pro Team Director Arnt Nyborg.
Reflecting on the upcoming season, the Pro Team Director says: “The best athletes are Haakon Holden, Marie Renée Gangsø and new signing Henning Lie. Hanna Sandholt Hansen, a new signing, and Thea Snortheimsmoen have ambitions to fight for the Youth bib. Henrik Arntzen is still a Youth athlete, while Ole Eirik Fuglehaug Ekrem and Sivert Bergan are veterans in Ski Classis, even though they are only 29 years old.”
