Team Edux has eight athletes who aim to be the highest-ranked Pro Team from Finland. The task will be challenging as there are three other teams from the land of a thousand lakes. There are some good skiers on the team, and they have trained really well for the upcoming winter.
Isac Holmström fights against Viktor Mäenpää, Team Mäenpää, in their quest to be the best Finnish male skier in Ski Classics. Isac had a really great day at Vasaloppet, where he finished 34th. His performance was very solid throughout the season, and he managed to be in the top 60 in every race he did, except La Venosta Time Trial. Besides Vasaloppet, Pustertaler Ski Marathon, 36th place, Jizerská50, 36th place and Årefjällsloppet, 35th place, were his highlights of the season.
Olli Tyrväinen had his best day at Tartu Maraton, where he reached the finish in Elva as the 58th-best male skier. At Vasaloppet, he was 107th, and at Engadin La Diagonela, he finished 80th.
Eric Storvall is the team captain, and Engadin valley proved to be the best race location for him. He entered downtown Zuoz as the 67th fastest skier male skier. David Sulkakoski finished only two Pro Tour events, of which Tartu Maraton’s 59th place was his best result. Markku Kouva is a master skier who is still going strong. He completed four Pro Tour events, and he was able to get into the top 100 at Engadin La Diagonela, where he was 98th.
There are three women on the team, and they are regular top-20 skiers. Sofia Lindberg from Sweden packed her bags and traveled to ten races. Her best result, 11th, came from Prato Piazza Mountain Challenge, but Jizerská50 was also a good race for her as she finished 14th. Noora Kivikko finished seven Pro Tour events placing herself in the top 20 four times. She also finished 17th in the 30 km classic race at the Finnish National Championships. Niina Virtanen started in three events last season and her best result, 22nd, came from Årefjällsloppet.
These skiers have really put a lot of time and focus into their training camps and hard workout sessions as a team. If all this hard work bears fruit, this team and the athletes will take a serious step forward this winter. It goes without saying that being the number one Pro Team in Finland is the ultimate goal.
