Since we are now in the process of releasing the Season X events one by one, it’s also time to start our silly season. But what does the term really stand for? The all-knowing Wikipedia describes it as follows:
In the United Kingdom and in some other places, the silly season is the period lasting for a few summer months typified by the emergence of frivolous news stories in the media. It is known in many languages as the cucumber time. The term is first attested in 1861. In North America the period is often referred to prosaically as the slow news season, or less commonly with the phrase dog days of summer.
So, in a nutshell this means that we will post various news bits and info pieces about our pro teams, their athletes and long distance skiing in general. And our first piece comes from Team ParkettPartner, currently ranked as the 9th best team in the pro tour.
Arne Evensen, 47, has joined the ranks of the team as their new Sports and Market Director. This genuinely nice guy has a twinkle in his eye when running Midtfjellkoia in Sjusjøen and working for Sport 1 Lillehammer, a web shop selling sports gear. He has a vast experience in cross-country skiing, including World Cup racing in sprint. He has been an active force in biathlon and he was a great intermediate distance runner with his best result in a 800 meter run being 1:54:58.
