Alvar Myhlback will again be part of the Lager 157 Ski team next season. But the competition program for the upcoming winter is not set in stone.
“The goal next season is to develop as a cross-country skier,” says Myhlback to Vasapodden (Lager 157 Ski Team’s podcast in the Swedish language).
The Lager 157 Ski Team squad for the coming winter was presented this weekend during the 157 XCC Rollerski Tour premiere in Ulricehamn, Sweden.

On the men’s side, there was a tight sprint finish between Alfred Buskqvist, Team Ramudden, and Alvar Myhlback, Lager 157 Ski Team, with the former winning by a close margin.
Myhlback, the Swedish 17-year-old, was responsible for an excellent debut season in Ski Classics Season XIV, with an eighth place at Vasaloppet being his season highlight:
“Vasaloppet is the greatest ski competition I’ve been to. I had a good day that ended up ten times better when I saw Emil win,” says Myhlback.
Last season, Alvar chose to join the Lager 157 Ski Team, be part of their training camps, have an entire long-distance focus, and run a traditional cross-country skiing program when not with the Pro Team.
And there will be a similar plan this year:
“I’m following the plan I made last year. I’ve never progressed as much as I did last summer and fall. There is no reason to do anything differently for the coming season. I believe in what we do,” says Alvar.
What is the main goal for the upcoming season?
“The goal is to develop as a cross-country skier. I probably won’t win Vasaloppet or the World Cup next year. But I must work as well as I can to get as close to those goals as possible and aim to make it the following year,” says Myhlback.
How many events in Ski Classics are you looking for this winter?
“The plan is a traditional effort. But I hope to do as many Ski Classics events as possible. So, there will be a race in the Ski Classics, absolutely. But it is not sure yet where you will see me next winter,” says Myhlback.
According to Falu-Kuriren, it is clear that Myhlback chose to turn down the Swedish Junior National Team but hopes to make it to the World Cup this winter.
