The Ski Classics Challengers event, Latloppet Madona, is a 32km long-distance race in classic technique taking place this Sunday, March 1, in Madona, Latvia.
Latloppet Madona is held annually and features a 32km course consisting of two 16km loops through the scenic surroundings of Madona.
Latloppet is the only popular classic skiing series in Latvia. Established in 2018, the series aims to revive classic skiing traditions in the country, particularly among recreational skiers.
The Latloppet series takes place in the northeastern uplands of Vidzeme. The Ski Classics Challengers event in Madona is organized in what locals proudly call “the winter capital of Latvia.”
The region is known for reliable natural snow conditions compared to other parts of the country. Much of the course winds through gently rolling meadows, offering wide views and a traditional Nordic skiing atmosphere when weather conditions allow.
The organizers welcome all cross-country skiers who wish to be part of the classic skiing community.
