Good first for Venosta Skiroll. On Saturday, the South Tyrolean apple valley will host the first major international skiroll event, included as Challengers in the prestigious Ski Classics circuit. In the valley on the border with Switzerland and Austria, the strongest long-distance athletes and others will arrive, determined to compete along the spectacular 35-kilometer track that connects the small town of Glorenza and the peaceful Melago, a delightful village nestled in the pristine Vallelunga valley. Team Ragde Charge, the third best Pro Team of the 2021-2022 winter season, will be almost complete with Andreas Nygaard, winner of the legendary Vasaloppet and Birkebeinerrennet 2022 and ‘king’ of the Ski Classics ranking, legend Anders Aukland with a career full of results and a sculpted physique at the age of 50, Kasper Stadaas, first at La Diagonela 2022, and Oskar Kardin and Joar Thele, while the women’s team will be made up of Anniken Alnæs and Jenny Larsson.
Also present will be Patrick Fossum Kristoffersen, from Norway but part of Team Robinson, the best Italian team on the circuit. Kristoffersen, first in the World Cup in the 29 km race in Otepää (EST), will have to contend with teammate Matteo Tanel, double winner of the Skiroll World Cup 2021 and 2020, who came close to a hat-trick in the season just ended. Competing in the new Team Robinson colors will be the young Czech cross-country skier Tereza Hujerová, who came second last January in the ‘La Venosta’ ski race. Trying to keep up with the strong Norwegians will be Mauro Brigadoi of the Sottozero Nordic Team, the best Italian at the finish line at the Marcialonga 2022, together with teammates Lorenzo Busin and Francesco Ferrari.
The 35 km and the 11 km, from Curon Venosta to Melago will offer unique ‘postcards’ to all competitors. Venosta Skiroll is ready to exceed all limits for a truly memorable first edition.
