Tord Asle Gjerdalen, the two-time Visma Ski Classics Champion, has still not a Pro Team for season XI.
Gjerdalen did not get a prolonged contract with Team Ragde Eiendom this spring. Now the 37-year-old Norwegian hopes to be part of another Pro Team.
“Unfortunately, I have no news to bring right now. I have been in contact with some Pro Teams, and others have contacted me, but nothing is decided yet,” says Gjerdalen.
Tord Asle Gjerdalen belongs to the Visma Ski Classics Hall of Fame with his ten victories, including three straight wins at Marcialonga 2015-2017. He has been Visma Ski Classics Champion twice (2017, 2018) and in season X, he finished second behind Andreas Nygaard.
When Team Ragde Eiendom chose to build the Pro Team on the men’s side around Nygaard and Petter Eliassen, Gjerdalen no longer got a place. Even though he was in the top ten in all races during season X and that he finished second in both La Diagonela and Marcialonga.
“Yes, it was a good season but it could have been even better,” says Gjerdalen.
Now he hopes for a new Pro Team that can give him the right overall package.
“Then, I can compete and win races again.”
How is the training going this summer when you don’t belong to a Pro Team?
“The preparation goes well, it continues as usual, so there are no problems.”
Now it remains to be seen which Pro Team picks up the well qualified Norwegian and gives him the right conditions.
