This Pro Team relies on homegrown talent, as all eight skiers are from the Czech Republic. Experience and passion for the sport are the two keywords these athletes share with each other.
Jiří Pliska, 41, is an established player in the game of long-distance skiing, and he can be a top 20 skier on the Pro Tour when the perfect day comes along. His best result from last season was 13th at Tartu Maraton, and he also performed really well at Vasaloppet, where only 16 skiers entered Mora before him. He was in the top 30 four other times as well, and his worst day happened in the Engadin Valley, where he finished La Diagonela as the 50th-best skier.
Martin Jakš is a familiar name to cross-country ski enthusiasts as this 36-year-old athlete has three Olympic and six World Championship Games under his belt. In 2010, he was a member of the Czech relay team that got a bronze medal at the World Championships. His personal best results are 8th in the 50 km race and 9th in the 30 km skiathlon at the 2018 Winter Olympics. He has four top 20 places in individual races at the World Championships. His FIS status is active, but he has not participated in any FIS races since 2018.
Václav Sedláček can also be a top 30 finisher, but it does not come easily for him. This only happened once last winter. That glorious day took place at Årefjällsloppet, where he skied the distance as the 29th-best athlete. In all the other Pro Tour races, Václav was in the top 60.
Petr Knop has represented his country at the Olympics and Word Championships with many top-50 results. He has also taken part in many World Cup races and visited the Pro Tour arena by skiing Birkebeinerrennet last winter. His finish result was 66th in that race.
Petra Hynčicová is also quite familiar with the atmosphere of the big games as she has been part of the Czech national team at the Olympics, World Championships, and World Cup. She is a regular top 40 skier in those races, but to get World Cup points (top 30) is still a feat that has not often been bestowed upon her.
Karolína Grohová knows what Ski Classics is about, and she finished the season as the 19th-best female skier in the Champion competition. In the ten races she participated in, she was a four-time top 15 skier, and Vasaloppet’s 13th place was her best season achievement.
Eva Vrabcová Nývltová took part in four events last season. Jizerská50 was her best achievement of the season, with 18th place, followed by Marcialonga’s 23rd, Vasaloppet’s 24th, and Pustertaler Ski Marathon’s 26th position.
Anna-Marie Hejna is still a young skier, 23, but quite experienced in long-distance skiing. According to her FIS results, she has completed 13 long-distance ski events since 2019. Last season, Jizerská50, Birken, Årefjällsloppet, and Ylläs-Leve were the Pro Tour events that she chose to partake with the results of 32nd, 51st, 21st, and 31st, respectively.
This Czech Pro Team has great talent and potential, but some of the team members are more focused on traditional distances and qualifying for the World Championships next winter. One member is a semi-retired skier who may not ski in any Pro Tour races. On the women’s side, a couple of skiers are devoted to Ski Classics, while another one is a World Cup skier. The fourth female skier is still growing as a long-distance skier.
We will surely see the colors of the eD system Silvini Team represented in almost every race on the Pro Tour.
