Due to continued warm weather and rain in the Bodø and Valnesfjord areas, the organizers of Marcialonga Bodø, together with Ski Classics, have decided to move the race to Sulitjelma. The event will take place next Saturday as planned, on a new course located in the Sulitjelma mountain area with start and finish at Jakobsbakken.
Over the past few weeks, the Marcialonga Bodø organization has worked intensively to evaluate various alternatives to ensure a high-quality event for both the Ski Classics Pro Tour athletes and recreational skiers.
The race will now be held on a 15.3km loop course completed three times, totaling 46km, in scenic mountain terrain with start and finish at Jakobsbakken in Sulitjelma. Sulitjelma is located near the Swedish border and close to the Swedish national parks Sarek and Padjelanta. Sulitjelma is known for its spectacular landscape and reliable snow conditions, offering a beautiful and challenging setting for a Ski Classics Pro Tour event.
“We have done everything possible to keep the race in the Bodø region, and the team has worked day and night to find solutions. In the end, moving the race to Sulitjelma gives us the best opportunity to deliver the quality experience we want for both Pro Team athletes and recreational skiers,” says CEO of Marcialonga Bodø, Skjalg Dreyer.
The relocation has been made possible thanks to close cooperation with the local organizers in Sulitjelma and the Kobberløpet organization.

“Fantastic work by the Marcialonga Bodø organization in cooperation with Sulitjelma, where the Kobberløpet organization has really stepped in to make this happen,” says Oskar Svärd, Director of Ski Classics.
“Kobberløpet is looking forward to facilitate that Marcialonga Bodø can organize the race in Sulitjelma next Saturday. We are proud that they have chosen to use our trails, and this will be the third time the event is held here, following the races in 2020 and 2021. We will do everything we can to ensure the tracks are in good condition for Saturday. Sulitjelma offers excellent conditions and a fantastic setting for an event like this,” says Mona Mostli, CEO of Kobberløpet.
More information regarding the event program, logistics, and practical details for participants will be communicated by the organizers in the coming days.
