Emil Persson
Emil Persson, Lager 157 Ski Team, is a familiar name in the world of Ski Classics. The Swedish Pro Team athlete is one of the most successful long-distance skiers of all time.
With 19 Ski Classics Pro Tour wins, Emil Persson is a Legend of the sport, and his name is carved in the Ski Classics Hall of Fame!
Persson will not be on the start line this Sunday, but will instead offer insight from the studio. For the Swedish skier, the role comes after a challenging period.
“I think things are starting to move in the right direction, and I’m beginning to get my body back in order after all the issues I’ve had,” Persson said ahead of Marcialonga.
Despite not racing, Persson is looking forward to a new experience behind the microphone.
“Yeah, it’s going to be fun and exciting. I’ve never sat in that chair before so that it will be something completely new. You’re a bit nervous about commenting in English as well. It adds an extra layer, but it should be fun.”
Commentating on teammates and direct rivals is another challenge Persson is curious about.
“I’m a little apprehensive about that. I’ve been sitting at home watching both Bad Gastein and La Diagonela, and it’s honestly pretty tough to be stuck on the couch watching. I want to be out there racing. So now we’ll see how it feels to commentate, whether you can focus on just describing and talking about the race rather than feeling it.”
“And of course, I’ll probably be a bit biased, but that’s something I’ll try not to be,” he added.
