Ugra Ski Marathonin in Russia becomes a new addition to the Visma Ski Classics Challengers series. The event takes place in Khanty-Mansiysk at 11 am local time (GMT +5) on April 9, 2022. The main race is 50 kilometers long with two 25-kilometer laps, and there are shorter distances available as well.
Ugra Ski Marathon has been held since 2013. It is organized by the Government of Ugra and Ugra Ski Federation. The general partner of the event is Bank “Otkritie”. Every year Ugra Ski Marathon attracts more than 2000 ski fans and professional athletes including Olympic and World Champions.
The organizers aim to popularize sport and healthy lifestyle in their country, to attract more people of different ages and nationalities, to put together an event to remember. Many well-known skiers have participated in the race, among them Petter Northug from Norway, Toni Livers and Seraina Boner from Switzerland, and Russian stars Alexander Bolshunov, Yevgeny Dementiev and Alexander Legkov.
“For us, this is a certain quality mark, which means that now the organization of Ugra Ski Marathon must be carried out in accordance with the high standards of Visma Ski Classics set for such world-famous long distance ski events as Vasaloppet, Marcialonga and Birkebeinerrennet. We also hope that joining the Visma Ski Classics Challengers family will bring even more skiers to our marathon enabling them to collect important points and ranking. In 2022, the Ugra Ski Marathon is expecting some more important changes, which will be announced very soon,” says Sergey Kryanin, the President of Ugra Ski Marathon.
