The Finnish Pro Team, Team Electrofit, consists of eight Pro athletes for season XI.
After a couple of years break, the Pro Team returns to Visma Ski Classics.
“We want to be a source of inspiration for ordinary fitness enthusiasts. We hope that our example will encourage new people to train more often and more seriously,” says Simo-Viljami Ojanen, owner and entrepreneur of Electrofit.
Electrofit is a company that offers sports coaching services and has been one of the Finnish pioneers in the Pro series. Team Electrofit was in Visma Ski Classcs for the first time already back in 2014.
“The company is celebrating this year because it turns ten years old. We want to celebrate it by being in the Pro series again and investing for it more than usual. Above all, however, the most important thing is to have fun,” says Ojanen.
Two athletes have strengthened the Pro Team; Maija Hakala has won several gold medals at the relays at Finnish championships and Laura Toivanen, with a background in biathlon on a national team level. Otherwise, the athletes are top level fitness skiers.
Ojanen has realistic expectations for the Pro Team. Points may be hard to get, but:
“It will be interesting to see what our athletes will reach when having good start places and top-level ski and drink services. While our men don’t fight for the top spots, they are competitive fitness enthusiasts. For example, Jussi Häkkinen is one of the top skiers in his age group in Finland,” says Ojanen.
Electrofit’s number one athlete is Maija Hakala, who will debut in Visma Ski Classics in season XI. She has skied several World Cup races during her career. Her main goals are still on normal races. Still, good results certainly are expected in Visma Ski Classics. Hakala has been second in Finlandia-hiihto classic style, the biggest long distance ski race in Finland.
“My plan is not to invest more in training for long distance skiing and my double poling is my weakest part, but if I’m in shape, I’m sure I’ll perform well also in longer races,” says Hakala, and tells that summer training has gone very well.
Hakala will attend the races in Livigno, Toblach-Cortina, Birkebeinerrennet and Ylläs-Levi.
In addition to coaching services, Electrofit’s business includes offering travel packages to ski races. The number one product has been trips to Marcialonga and Ylläs-Levi. With the team athletes, Electrofit can offer a more comprehensive and more in-depth experience for its customers.
“With our partners, we can offer competitive ski and drink service for the Pro team athletes and also for our customers,” says Ojanen.
