The leading Finnish Pro Team run by the Mäenpää family is now facing a heavier competition from their home country. Finland has three strong Pro Teams in the field this year, but Team Mäenpää is confident that they will remain the number one team in the land of the thousand lakes. They lost their podium skier Ari Luusua to Vltava Fund Ski Team, but they still have a powerful squad eager to score points in Season X.
Currently, Hans and Victor Mäenpää are in Idre Fjäll, Sweden, for snow training, and they have been blessed with great conditions. Hannes Mäenpää is still recovering from his knee injury, and it is expected that he can return to training within a couple of weeks. He will start his racing season a bit later than the others. Niko Koskela, two-time top 10 skier in Visma Ski Classics and Tartu Maraton winner, has not been sick like last season, and his training has proceeded according the plan. He feels that he is ready to repeat his top 10 feat in this winter’s races. The whole team will leave for Livingo on Thursday, November 21.
