Team Robinson Trentino finished the Ski Classics Season in the 12th position at the Pro Team’s competition. Despite missing the primary goal of being top 10, Pro Team Director Bruno Debertolis is satisfied with the result, especially after some challenges to the team.
How was the season for Team Robinson Trentino? Did your team achieve its goals?
“Overall, the season has been positive. Some athletes have achieved unexpected results, and others have had problems that unfortunately did not allow them to perform at their best. In addition, we were a team with Russian athletes, which brought us many difficulties after Vasaloppet. However, Ski Classics allowed us to overcome this problem by giving us wild cards equal to the banned Russian athletes. Our goal was to enter the top ten teams. We finished in 12th place, close to the top ten. But considering everything, this is a satisfying result. We will try again next year.”
For Team Robinson Trentino, what were Season XII’s best and worst moments?
“Certainly, the best part was creating not only a team but a real family. Race after race, the teammates have been supportive of each other, the relationship with the service and with all the staff has become a true friendship due to mutual trust and the sharing of common goals. It was great to be the most international team on the Tour. We all have learned new things from each other, making everyone grow. Honestly, the worst thing was saying goodbye to Season XII on the last day.”
Who were the best performers of Team Robinson Trentino?
“I think everyone did their best, and those who were not satisfied at the end of the race gave their all, so this is the greatest result. If we talk about results, however, I think that the biggest surprise was Frida Erkers (now Erkers signed with Team Eksjöhus for Season 22/23), with several placings in the top ten, and Patrick (Fossum Kristoffersen), who conquered several top 30. This was the first year in the Ski Classics circuit for both.”
“Let’s not forget Chiara Caminada’s consistency; this was her best season. Then, the tireless Russians Ekaterina, Dmitry, and Sergey, and the strength of the Americans, Scott (Patterson) and Rosie (Brennan) with a splendid 7th place at Birkebeinerrennet. The strength of Dietmar Nockler, who was just in his 4th race in Ski Classics and was able to fight with the best athletes until the final sprint. And then the magic of sharing experiences with the strongest double poler ever, Petter Eliassen, at Marcialonga. It was amazing to see the young Italians of our Team Talent thrilled when they realized he had the same racing suit as to them.”
Now it is almost time for summer training. What are your team’s plans for summer?
“First, we are working to build the team for next season, and there will still be some news regarding new athletes. In any case, we are planning the summer with some altitude training camps in Trentino. We have not yet decided if we will be present in the Scandinavian rollerski races. We are also discussing with some new potential sponsors. It will be a fascinating summer.”
“In conclusion, I want to say that, especially in this difficult moment for international politics, we shared everything, from joy to sorrow, dreams and disappointments, with athletes from 7 different nations: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Russia, United States of America and Italy. We all chase our dreams, and we all struggle in the same way, with respect and esteem for each other.”
