t will be the Ski Classics Legend Seraina Boner, together with host Teemu Virtanen that (in English) lead the viewers through this weekend’s broadcast on SC PLAY.
Seraina Boner is a familiar name in the world of Ski Classics. From 2011 to 2019, the Swiss skier started in 45 Pro Tour events and was three times overall Champion. Seraina’s name is carved in the Ski Classics Hall of Fame with 15 wins. Her first victory was at Marcialonga in 2011, and her last was at Birkebeinerrennet in 2016.

The Legend Seraina Boner is back to the Ski Classics, now as an expert commentator on a sport she dominated some years ago.
“It’s pretty cool to be back in the Ski Classics circuit with this new role on the other side of the screen. I have a lot of respect and work hard to be as good and prepared as possible. I probably need a similar ‘calming the nerves’ ritual as I had pre-start when we go live on Saturday morning,” says the Swiss Ski Classics Legend and continues:
“But I hope I will come into the flow of concentration and following the upcoming tasks, also pretty similar to skiing the race myself.”
Boner is also impressed with the Ski Classics’ development, both in terms of structure but also athletically:
“The development is pretty impressive. On one side, from the point of professionalism of the best teams – speaking of all the wax trucks following the circuit, for example. On the other side, it’s amazing how the athletes perform, weekend after weekend, and even manage to handle the double weekends. So I think the demands on the athletic and physical side on the athletes have even increased,” and continues about the double poling technique:
“I personally never committed 100% to double poling, but it’s pretty cool to see the girls do so. Most impressive to me was Astrid’s performance on last year’s Birkebeinerrennet – that was simply great skiing.”
Nowadays, Seraina Boner keeps busy with different roles and projects, but skiing is still an important part of her life:
“I’m part-time coaching a development biathlon team in the skiing part, give ski lessons in Winter, ski myself whenever possible, and am a physical education teacher at the secondary school.” But the projects don’t stop here:
“Last year, my sister and I founded a program to support girls in sports, where we offer girls-only-training-camps and develop programs to guide them through the sometimes difficult time of puberty and beyond.
