Salzburg-rollt is a new Austrian Ski Classics Challengers event that will take place on August 30th and is held in free technique.
The course is 30 km and will be raced in 7 laps of 4,3 km on the car and motorcycle racecourse, Salzburgring.
To follow current governmental regulations, this year’s edition will take place with an individual start and as a “no draft” race, which means that slipstreaming is not allowed.
Where once stars like Michael Schumacher, Keke Rosberg, Jochen Rindt, Niki Lauda, and many others took their first rounds in race cars and on motorcycles, a Visma Ski Classics Challengers event on roller skis with 30 km free technique takes place at the Salzburgring for the first time.
For those who think that 7 rounds are too much, a 21 km roller ski race as well as inline skating competitions for young and old can be chosen on August 30th, 2020. The organisers promise a fun event program offered to participants and spectators in the narrow alpine valley close to the city of Salzburg.
”The event has already taken place for 10 years under a different name. The Nordic Academy as a new organizer aims to open up the event to a larger number of recreational participants and cross-country skiing enthusiasts making sure that everyone can have this fantastic experience on the very fast tracks of the Salzburgring. We can’t wait to welcome international athletes to our first edition as a Ski Classics Challengers event”, says Markus Förmer, Event Director.
