Skinnarloppet, part of the Ski Classics Challengers circuit, has officially opened registrations for its 2026 edition. The classic long-distance ski event will take place on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in Malung, Sweden.
Held two weeks ahead of Vasaloppet and featuring a similar elevation profile, the 45-kilometer race is considered an ideal tune-up for Sweden’s most iconic long-distance event.
With a history dating back to 1924, just two years after the first Vasaloppet, Skinnarloppet is one of the oldest ski marathons in Sweden and globally. The 2026 edition will be the 94th in its history and the first time the event is part of the Ski Classics Challengers calendar.
The Local Organizing Committee is excited to welcome both elite athletes and recreational skiers to Malung:
“Our vision in joining the Challengers circuit is to attract skiers from beyond our region and offer them the chance to experience the historic atmosphere and beautiful course of Skinnarloppet. We’re looking forward to our first winter as a Ski Classics Challengers event and will be ready to welcome everyone in February.”
Registrations opened on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 10:00 CEST. Youth, night, and shorter events are also available for registration!
