This Italian Pro Team brings a distinctly international flavor to Ski Classics, featuring five athletes from Italy, one from Spain, one from Sweden, and one from Austria. After finishing 17th in the Pro Team Competition during Season XVI, Team Internorm Trentino GSG now looks ahead to the new winter with renewed ambition.
The Pro Team was born from the long-running television program SottoZero, which is dedicated to winter sports and was created by journalist and Pro Team Director Michele Pasqualotto. For over twenty years, SottoZero has been a leading voice for cross-country skiing and winter sports in Italy.
After launching the amateur ski club SottoZero Nordic Team in 2016, Pasqualotto and his team took a significant step in 2019 by founding Team Internorm Trentino GSG. The goal: to bring Italian long-distance skiing into the international spotlight.
A mix of experience and international talent
For Ski Classics Season XVII, the "Red Devils" line up eight Pro Team athletes - three women and five men - representing Italy, Austria, Sweden, and Spain: Anna Giordan (1992), Malin Borjesjo (1996), Anna Schmidhofer (1998), Lorenzo Busin (1996), Francesco Ferrari (1994), Christian Lorenzi (1994), Thomas Rinner (1997), and Sadurni Betriu Boix (1982).
"Team Internorm Trentino GSG is an Italian Pro Team from SottoZero Group. It originates from the very popular Italian TV program about Winter Sports (mainly cross-country skiing), whose title is 'SottoZero' (Below Zero, in free translation), conceived and presented by journalist Michele Pasqualotto. Team Internorm Trentino will offer the best Italian long-distance skiers the opportunity to take part in Ski Classics," says Pro Team Director Michele Pasqualotto, and adds:
"The Pro Team, also called 'Red Devils,' currently has Internorm Finestre-Fenster, Trentino, and GSG Sports Wear as main sponsors."
