Ski Classics

Team Engcon, winner of last season’s Pro Team Competition, enters the Ski Classics World Championship Season XVIII with a rebuilt women’s squad and five athletes in the top 15 of the SC Ranking, after the retirement of Anikken Gjerde Alnæs and the departure of Torleif Syrstad.  

Based in Jämtland, Sweden, and rooted in the region’s skiing traditions, the Pro Team started in 2019 as a small squad of three athletes, founded by Ski Classics Legend Jerry Ahrlin. Last season, the squad won the Pro Team Competition, plus the women’s World Champion and Sprint titles through Alnæs and the men’s Climb title through Syrstad.  

The women’s side has a new look. Emilie Fleten, who won Marcialonga and Vasaloppet last winter and finished second overall, arrives from the disbanded Team Ramudden. She teams up with Hanna Lodin, third overall last season, and Jenny Larsson, who joins after two seasons with Lager 157 Ski Team and finished third at Marcialonga last winter. 

On the men’s side, Ole Jørgen Bruvoll, who finished second overall last season, Amund Hoel, Johan Tjelle and Anton Elvseth continue. They are joined by Axel Jutterström from the disbanded Team Eksjöhus. The Mora native won the Climb competition in Season XVI and finished third at Reistadløpet last winter. Cub skier Tage Börjesson also continues.
