This Norwegian Pro Team hails from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and represents one of the most unique setups in the Ski Classics circuit. Founded in 2018, the NTNUI Ski Team stands out as a student-run organization where both athletes and managers balance academic life with professional skiing.
For Season XVII, the team brings in a new generation of ambitious skiers. Under the direction of newly appointed Pro Team Director Aud Oyen Halas, NTNUI Ski Team consists of eight Norwegian athletes - five women and three men - all born between 2001 and 2005. The young roster makes this season's lineup the team's youngest ever, filled with drive, energy, and determination to take the next step in the long-distance skiing scene.
"Living and studying in the same city allows us to train together daily, push each other, and build a strong team spirit that is just as important off the course as it is on race day," says Pro Team Director and athlete Aud Oyen Halas.
The student-led structure remains at the core of the NTNUI Ski Team's identity. Both athletes and management operate entirely within the university community, blending academic and athletic ambitions while carrying on the 116-year legacy of Norway's largest ski club for young adults. This unique combination of education and elite sport continues to define the team's philosophy and success in Ski Classics.
The NTNUI Ski Team roster for Ski Classics Season XVII includes Mie Christine Stangeland Sorensen (2004), Aud Oyen Halas (2001), Julie Meinicke (2002), Aurora Wilkens Jernberg (2004), Ida Fuglenes Mathiesen (2003), Per Finstad (2005), Ferdinand Fremming (2002), and Ask Tveiten (2001).
Balancing lectures, labs, and long-distance racing, the NTNUI Ski Team proves that academic excellence and athletic performance can go hand in hand.
