The Norwegian Ski Classics Pro Team, formerly known as Team Aktiv mot kreft, will compete under a new name in the Ski Classics World Championship Season XVIII: Bardo Ski Team.
The Pro Team announced the change on social media ahead of the 2026/2027 season, their second on the Ski Classics World Championship series.
“A new chapter. Same mission,” the team wrote on Instagram, introducing the new name alongside their new charity partner, The Bardo Foundation.
The rebrand follows the conclusion of the team’s partnership with Aktiv mot kreft, with whom they raced throughout their debut season. “We are proud to have carried Aktiv mot kreft on our chests, and glad to have been able to spread their important message,” the team wrote in a previous social media post, adding that they will continue to support the foundation and its work.
The new name honors Bernardo “Bardo” Eggesbø, a Norwegian teenager who passed away from osteosarcoma at the age of 16. The Bardo Foundation was established in his memory, with a mission to make everyday life lighter for patients and their loved ones during treatment, and to advance research into osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer that primarily affects children and adolescents – more information about The Bardo Foundation can be found HERE.
“We carry on his own wish: to make everyday life lighter for patients and their loved ones through treatment,” the team wrote.
The Pro Team was founded by Halfdan Baumann and Erling Owren, who envisioned a project that would use sport and an international arena as a platform for charitable causes. That vision remains unchanged going into Season XVIII.
Bardo Ski Team will field the same seven athletes announced earlier this month for the upcoming season: Hanna Hansen, Madelene Nord, and Camilla Brørs on the women’s side, and Halfdan Baumann, Erling Owren, Erik Ola Jorde, and Halvor Bade on the men’s side.

The team faces 15 Pro events across six countries in Season XVIII, from the Marcialonga in the Dolomites to Vasaloppet in the Swedish forests and Birkebeinerrennet from Rena to Lillehammer.
“Few winter arenas reach further, and we cannot wait to race with Bardo on our chests,” the team wrote.
The team finished Season XVII in 23rd place in the Pro Team Competition with 328 points.
