Team Mäenpää's number one skier Niko Koskela, twice in the top 10 in the Visma Ski Classics Pro Tour, smashed into a tree when training Vöyri, Finland. He was going downhill with full speed and fell down and couldn't avoid hitting the tree that was standing next to the track. He broke his collarbone, and it was operated immediately. He will start an extensive rehab hoping to be back on skis this season. This unfortunate incident happened at the worst possible time as Niko was getting ready for the challenging races in January. He finished 20th in the Livigno Prologue individual race three weeks ago, and he felt that his shape was even getting better.
