The second Visma Ski Classics Challengers event and the southernmost long-distance ski race in the world, Ushuaia Loppet, took place yesterday Sunday in Ushuaia, Argentina. The 50km race with two 25km laps was a scene for some beautiful landscapes and a lot of action. South American Olympic athletes, Argentinean and Brazilian national team skiers, as well as athletes of 15 nationalities participated in the competition.
With sun, blue skies and temperatures around zero, Matias Zuloaga from Argentina and Claire Waichler, USA, where the first skiers to cross the finish line. The former had a tough fight against Victor Santos and Franco Dal Farra, who ended second and third respectively. In the womens race Claire Waichler met great competition from the Brazilian skier Bruna Moura (second place) and Estonian Kadi Inno (third place).
Next Visma Ski Classics Challengers event is Gautefallrennet in Norway on August 31st, followed by Klarälvsloppet in Sweden on September 22nd.
