Lina Korsgren, Team Ramudden, dominated the Pro Tour last winter leaving everyone eating her dust in every race, except at La Diagonela where she finished second after her teammate Jenny Larsson and Vålådalsrennet where she was third behind Emilie Fleten and Ebba Andersson, respectively.
She is a late bloomer as her best results have come in her 30s, and she is now the number one favorite for the upcoming season. The battle will be harder than ever before as the women’s field grows stronger every year.
In an interview conducted by SVT, the Swedish National Television, she admitted that skiing at the age of 33 was out of the question when she was younger. Naturally, back then she dreamed about the Olympics and the World Championships like any other rising star, but long distance skiing quickly became her calling.
In the SVT interview, she said that the nature of the sport suits her well and working in teams is a much better way to achieve results than doing everything alone. She admitted that the pressure of qualifying to certain World Cup races and then trying to make it to the big games was sometimes too much for her. In Visma Ski Classics, there is no selection process to be able to race, which makes it easier for skiers to focus and plan for their upcoming events.
When asked about her primary goal for Season XII, she said without hesitation that to win Vasaloppet for the fourth time is the one.
