Lager 157 Ski Team’s athlete Markus Ottoson has decided to step aside for the rest of the season. Ottoson performed extremely well in Vasaloppet in 2017 and 2016 when he finished 4th and 6th, respectively.
His preparations for this season didn’t go as planned, and he felt that he wasn’t able to perform at his usual level. He decided to start the season and find out if his shape could improve. He tried a couple of ski races in his home country Sweden, but the results were not exactly what he had hoped for. Hence, he decided to take a break and re-evaluate his career and next steps in life.
“During the last couple of months, I’ve been trying to find my missing mojo and shape,” Ottoson says. “It’s been challenging for me, both physically and mentally. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future, but right now I’m not putting my primary focus on skiing.”
He will continue his medical studies aiming to become a full-licensed doctor in the future.
Lager 157 Ski Team is currently leading the pro team competition while Britta Johansson Norgren is the Champion, sprint competition and Visma Alp Trophy leader and Anton Karlsson is in the lead in the sprint competition before the legendary Italian race Marcialonga that takes place this Sunday.
