La Savoyarde Ekosport, a Ski Classics Challengers event planned to take place in La Feclaz, France, on March 12, is now canceled due to snow conditions and the weather forecast.
La Savoyarde Ekosport takes place annually in the heart of Savoie Grand Revard Plateau, with a panoramic view of Mont Blanc and the largest natural lake in France, Lake Bourget.
La Savoyarde Ekosport organizing committee released a notice about the cancelation on their official website:
“Nordic Skiing – March 12, 2023 – Races Canceled
After a fierce final sprint between the cancelation and the maintenance of the long-distance races, we regret to announce that the cancellation prevails.
We looked for alternative courses and hoped until today. But the snow did not smile on us. Unfortunately, the weather forecast for the next few days does not predict sufficient snow cover to maintain such races.
With a heavy heart, we are forced to cancel the Nordic ski races scheduled for this Sunday, March 12, 2023.
You will find all the refund information as of Wednesday, March 8.”
The Ski Classics Challengers event is a 42km long-distance ski race in freestyle technique in La Feclaz, France, and goes across the Bauges Massif, just an hour from Geneva or Lyon.
For this year’s edition, the La Savoyarde Ekosport program included a whole week of competitions with, amongst others, a night race, a biathlon competition, and a kids’ race.
