Kuzbass Classic Marathon in Russia has now become a part of the Visma Ski Classics Challengers series. This 30 km classic race takes place on February 26, 2022.
This new Challengers edition will be held along the frozen water area of the Belovsky Sea and its surrounding areas. The organizers promise an enticing and beautiful race that captures all participants’ hearts. They can admire the Kuzbass nature in all its diversity ranging from mountain views to Siberian alpine meadows covered with white snow. Everyone will certainly be charmed by the variety of colors that Siberian nature has in store, and everyone will certainly be inspired to come back again and again.
“We are proud to be able to promote our race and be part of the Visma Ski Classics family as a Challengers event. This will be the first time Visma Ski Classics will go out with a race in Kuzbass. We are pleased to show all skiers around the world our beautiful landscape and region. Together with Visma Ski Classics, we are conscientious that Kuzbass Classic Marathon will grow and hopefully become an event that skiers want to visit every year,” says Nikolai Yaroschuk, the Event Director.
Kuzbass, also known as Kemero Oblast, is the outpost of the Siberian conquest, the coal heart of the country. The lion’s share of Russian coal is mined there, and the most rugged miners of the world live in the area. Kuzbass is one of Russia’s most urbanized regions, with over 70% of the population living in its nine principal cities, and the population is close to 3 million.
Registration opens mid of December.

All participants will be able to collect points for the SC ranking which they can check by signing up for free to MyPages. MyPages provides one common ranking for women and men, professionals and recreational skiers alike.
Pro Team registered athletes can collect points for the Ski Classics Champion and Youth competitions in their respective gender.
