The Austrian Ski Classics Pro Team completed its first training camp of the season in Upper Austria at the invitation of co-name sponsor Cibes Lift Austria, with a focus on joint training, season review, team building, and planning ahead.
Thanks to its many cycling paths and running routes, the Innviertel/Hausruckviertel region in Upper Austria is ideally suited for extensive roller skiing and running workouts. The world-renowned Fischer ski factory is also located in the district capital, Ried im Innkreis.
Cibes Austria CEO Robert Gründlinger, himself an ambitious endurance athlete, joined the team for a multi-hour roller skiing session as well as a trail run in the Kobernaußerwald. He told ProXCskiing he was enthusiastic about the team spirit, motivation, and strength of all the athletes.
Plans and goals for the coming season were discussed in depth, along with potential improvements and new ideas. Pro Team Director Peter Kiene views long-distance cross-country skiing as a year-round sport.
“Cross-country skiers are multisport athletes. Those who want to be successful in winter must also be competitive in roller skiing and running events during summer. In addition, visibility for the team and athletes outside the winter season is essential for sponsors and equipment suppliers,” Kiene said.
On the roller skiing track in Lohnsburg, alongside an intensive training session, the Carbon Crossrollers and the associated braking system from Austrian company Floig were thoroughly tested.
To drive continuous development and professionalization, the team is divided into three groups for the next season.
