Visma Ski Classics Challengers' event Ring Frei took place today in Salzburg, Austria, on the famous car and motorcycle race track Salzburgring. The distance of 42km was raced in 10 laps and free technique in rainy conditions.
At the end of the day, Hana Mazi Jamnik, Skike Klub Slovenia, and Thomas Bing, former Visma Ski Classics Pro Team athlete of Team Zipps, won the event with an impressive performance.
“It was amazing. I really like long distances, more than the short ones. So, I really enjoyed it here,” says the female winner Hana Mazi Jamnik after the race.
“It was a new experience for me because it was the first time on such fast roller-skis in a competition. It was an extremely tactical race, and in the end, I think I had the best tactics,” reflects Thomas Bing who came in 11th place at Vasaloppet in Visma Ski Classics Season XI.
The second best woman was Austrian Lisa Achleitner with a gap of 2:31 after the leading woman. “It was quite a long race because it was the first time for me to compete such a long distance. From the beginning, it was quite easy, but then in the sixth lap the first girl was suddenly pushing so hard that I couldn’t follow her. But I am satisfied with my second place.”
As Ring Frei was a Visma Ski Classics Challengers event, Pro Team registered athletes were able to collect points for the Ski Classics Champion and Youth competitions in respective gender.
